Like most carmakers, VW is really ramping up its investment in EV design and manufacturing -- its new 5-year plan called for spending $131 billion on EV development. That's over 2/3 of the company's total investment budget.
The money includes $2.1 billion for the new Scout factory in South Carolina, as well as funding for an EV battery factory in St. Thomas, Ontario. So the Scout will be set to qualify under the current federal tax credit guidelines.
