Solid axles with option for rear AND front lockers, or some sort of electric power capability that mimics a locker. Hasn't been done with a BEV yet and this is Scout's opportunity to pave the way.

With aftermarket options for the Wrangler being a big part of ownership, solid axles are a big part of suspension modifications that make these so popular.

To be a proper rival to the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco, the new Volkswagen Scout SUV and pickup should get a locking rear differential and long-travel suspension just make sure its off-road capability is mostly up to par.

But what else does the Scout need to be a real competitor?

Off-road wants ==> I am pretty impressed with the Ford Raptor suspension performance off road (yes I own a Scout II and have a solid axle up front). I also think you should offer 35” tires from the factory. Of course selectable lockers or drive motors all four Corners and sway bar disconnect. Front camera would be nice. Factory Warn winch option (big complaint on the Bronco). I would like to see nice approach and departure angles similar to original Scout II with lift kit and 35” tires. Bolt on fender flares and rock rails from the factory. Roof rack capable of holding a tent. I love taking the top off my Scout during the summer so maybe a system similar to the Jeep Rubicon. Rear bumper similar to Rubicon AEV that protects rear corners. Any overlanding options would be great like a front camping kitchen like the Rivian has behind the cab. Factory skid plates to protect the batteries and undercarriage. Washable interior with floor drains. Built in cooler in the center console with an optional ARB fridge that fits in the same location.

Welcome to the forum @jimweed61! I agree with the 35 inch wheels being an option, it should be available on all models like with the Bronco. I imagine the skid plates and roof rack are things that have come up when VW was visiting Scout owners club a while ago.
